Our 2nd Anniversary

For our 2nd Anni we decided to go on a weekend getaway. We wanted to go someplace that we have not been together and that was less than an 3hour drive. So we decided on Asheville NC. While in Asheville we visited the Biltmore Estate, Blue Ridge Mountains and toured the city. I really enjoyed our little vacay together. It is a beautiful city!

Anniversary Party

Ok we are swiftly approaching our 1yr ANNI so I want to have a PARTY! Of course I do! My husband has finally agreed and I am setting a budget of $1500 that's all that has to cover the food, bldg rental, invitations, and entertainment. Back in April my family had a 85th B-day party for my grandmother so I am thinking we will use the same facility. It includes the food and rental. We are only hosting this party for 60-75 people. Here is how I am going to budget this:

Food and facility- $600
Dj- $200
Invitations - $25
Photog-$160
Decor- FREE
Cake- $100
TOTAL: $1085

We may possibly change our plans and have a cook-out of something instead. Who knows but we are def having a gathering.

CHANGE OF PLANS
We decided to have a BOWLING Party. We met at the Bowling Alley so that's where we had our first anni party with family and friends.

Hi there strangers....

Its been a long time since my last post. We just celebrated our 9 month anniversary. Time is flying by! I truly love being married but its a challenge at times but the beauty is working your way through the obstacles. I completed the BSN of my program in May those last few months were terrible.

I started summer school 3 weeks later and now its almost over but I feel like I tortured myself this summer doing way too much. It's prime wedding season and my company has been booked. Last weekend was my first weekend off since March. Can you say exhausted. But I am truly gratfeul for the business. I am also still teaching at a local community collge but I have decided that I am going to take a break for the Fall and work full-time as a RN to improve my skills set. So I recently accepted a position at on a medical stepdown unit. We are also doing some home improvements this summer which is time consuming and expensive not as much as last year.

We also have been planning our 1 yr Anniversary party. Just something small and intimate. Its a dinner party. About 60-75 people and I want it to be like a Casino night but I still have called to inquire how much the tables rent for as of yet. Shooting for a Harlem Nights theme. The color palette is black. white and red. I will post some of my ideas soon.

5 months!

Today makes 5 MONTHS!
Time flies by so fast. I have been an AWEFUL blogger. I have been so busy with life and trying to be a good wife. I am about to graduate from school so I can do is focus on the fact that this part of my life will be over soon. We are both in school and this semester we barely see each other. Anyway other than that all is well in the Wright household. I will try to post more often.

Four months and five days ago I married a beautiful man. I consider myself a lucky woman to have such a wonderful relationship with my husband. Now granted we go with our little disagreements but overall we have a wholistic relationship. I feel so blessed to be able to experience this kind of love. He is truly in my eyesight an extraordinary person and I love him with all of me. Today as our 1st Valentine's as a husband and wife and I look forward to so many more. Happy Valentine's Day babe!

BROKE

We will be married 2 months in 2 days and I can't believe that we are BROKE. LOL!!! We didn't put any wedding expenses on credit cards or take out any loans to pay for the wedding. But we used a lot of our savings to pay for it. Now don't get me wrong if I had to do it all over again I WOULD. Needless to say I am on the hunt for a PT job. I work as a adjunct instructor at a local community college while I attend Grad school FT and the semester ends this week. So I am off for like 5 weeks until next semester which is great because I still get PAID!!! But since the wedding I don't have the disposable income that I normally would have and it's the holidays. My company is always slow around this season b/c there are not a lot of weddings. I have a few X-mas parties booked but my calender is really open. I have a huge bridal show coming in Jan that will bring in some traffic so I look forward to that. But in the meantime I went on an interview for a job yesterday and I think I really want to work there. It appeared to be a good working environment and I can learn a lot. So I am keeping my fingers crossed.... the down side is that I may have to work 12HR shifts which suck but I will be PRN which is a great b/c they work around my school and work schedule. I will probably only work like 2x a week but the knowledge obtained is invaluable.

Last name game

I started this post right after the wedding and never uploaded it and this topic has came across my mind once again. Unlike most newly married women I didn't come straight home from the honeymoon and get on the phone and start changing my last name and I still have not done it. WHY? Because I can't figure out what I want to do. I have had my {maiden} last name all of my life and I'm attached to it some kind of way. So there lies my dilemma. Should I hyphenate which I hear causes lots of problems? Or should I have double last names like Hilliary Diane Rodham Clinton? I am not willing to just drop my last name right now at least. I am still in Grad school and it would cause a host of problems for me. I am not interested in dropping my middle name to replace my last name with my middle name. From my research I only have the 2 options I just described and keeping my name the way it is.

I know different people do things for different reasons. Neither of us have any children and I am 100% on board for our children to have DH's last name and at that point I would also want to have the last name as well. This is a 1st marriage for both of us. I have academic publications in my maiden last name and we all know how hard it can be to be published. My previous degrees are all in my maiden name and I hopefully I will be graduating again in a few months. I guess I have to make some decision soon. We discussed before marriage and I still could not decide but now that we are married I have to make a decision. My DHs feelings would be hurt if I don't change my name so I either have to hyphenate or have double last names... any thoughts
