BROKE

We will be married 2 months in 2 days and I can't believe that we are BROKE. LOL!!! We didn't put any wedding expenses on credit cards or take out any loans to pay for the wedding. But we used a lot of our savings to pay for it. Now don't get me wrong if I had to do it all over again I WOULD. Needless to say I am on the hunt for a PT job. I work as a adjunct instructor at a local community college while I attend Grad school FT and the semester ends this week. So I am off for like 5 weeks until next semester which is great because I still get PAID!!! But since the wedding I don't have the disposable income that I normally would have and it's the holidays. My company is always slow around this season b/c there are not a lot of weddings. I have a few X-mas parties booked but my calender is really open. I have a huge bridal show coming in Jan that will bring in some traffic so I look forward to that. But in the meantime I went on an interview for a job yesterday and I think I really want to work there. It appeared to be a good working environment and I can learn a lot. So I am keeping my fingers crossed.... the down side is that I may have to work 12HR shifts which suck but I will be PRN which is a great b/c they work around my school and work schedule. I will probably only work like 2x a week but the knowledge obtained is invaluable.

Last name game

I started this post right after the wedding and never uploaded it and this topic has came across my mind once again. Unlike most newly married women I didn't come straight home from the honeymoon and get on the phone and start changing my last name and I still have not done it. WHY? Because I can't figure out what I want to do. I have had my {maiden} last name all of my life and I'm attached to it some kind of way. So there lies my dilemma. Should I hyphenate which I hear causes lots of problems? Or should I have double last names like Hilliary Diane Rodham Clinton? I am not willing to just drop my last name right now at least. I am still in Grad school and it would cause a host of problems for me. I am not interested in dropping my middle name to replace my last name with my middle name. From my research I only have the 2 options I just described and keeping my name the way it is.

I know different people do things for different reasons. Neither of us have any children and I am 100% on board for our children to have DH's last name and at that point I would also want to have the last name as well. This is a 1st marriage for both of us. I have academic publications in my maiden last name and we all know how hard it can be to be published. My previous degrees are all in my maiden name and I hopefully I will be graduating again in a few months. I guess I have to make some decision soon. We discussed before marriage and I still could not decide but now that we are married I have to make a decision. My DHs feelings would be hurt if I don't change my name so I either have to hyphenate or have double last names... any thoughts

Being married....

is AMAZING!!! At first I thought that it wouldn't be much of a change. Well I was wrong. It's different...like I know that I have a partner in life and it's a beautiful feeling. Even at the times when we are upset with each other we both know that we love one another. I love that.... I know that he always will have my back and tell me when I am wrong. I love the honesty of our relationship. I feel so blessed to have my husband as my mate. I had a client call me today and his parents are celebrating their 50 anniversary in 2011 and their children are planning this huge party for them and I hope one day that will be us. Making it in a HAPPY, LOVING, HEALHY marriage for 50 YEARS!!! I mean if that is not a blessing I don't know what is! Anyway I was feeing overjoyed and wanted to express it.

Sidebar* I have been so busy with school so that why I haven't blogged about the HM yet. Stay tuned!!

Henna Party

I realized today that I never blogged about my henna party. So my ManOH and BMs hosted a henna party for me as a part of my bachelorette weekend. We had a get time here are some pics.

Thank You

I had to take a break from wedding recaps. I will post a few more pics of some of the details and some creative shots. I haven't even started organizing the honeymoon posts yet. School has me so busy it's the end of the semester and everything is due. I am waiting for our wedding video I can't wait to see it. For our thank-you's I decided that we would send out a mini movie slideshow with the wedding video highlights. Just a 10-15 minute DVD of the wedding highlights. So I called on my trusted graphic designer extraordinaire blogger friend Jonezy from http://www.thebuckeyebride.blogspot.com/ as you know she designed all of out paper products and as long as she is willing I will continue to use her FOREVER! She is awesome to work with in every way. So I told her my vision and sent a few pics and bam this is what I received from her.
I love THESE!

We have to sizes 1 for a DVD cases and 1 for CD cases. The guest get the CD cases I found a get deal on clear cases last year like 100 for $5 so I just held on to them and I plan to finish them out as soon as we get our wedding preview next week. I am so excited. Gotta go to class. Have a great weekend!

ONE MONTH TODAY!

Today is our 1 month anniversary! This time last month I was just waking up and getting ready to become a wife. It has been a beautiful first month. Our officiant was DH childhood pastor and he shared with us 10 rules for a happy marriage.

1. Never both be angry at the same time.
2. Never yell at each other, unless the house is on fire.
3. If one of you has to win an arguement, let it be your mate.
4. If you have to criticize, do it lovingly.
5. Never bring up mistakes of the past.
6. Neglect the whole world rather than each other.
7. Never go to sleep with an argument unsettled.
8. At least once everyday try to say one kind or complimentary thing to your life's partner.
9. When you have done something wrong, be ready to admit it and ask for forgiveness.
10. It takes tow to make a quarrel and the one in the wrong, ususally is the one who does all the talking.

He framed this and gave it to us as part of our wedding gift. I thought I would share it here. I have been a very independent woman for a very long time and now that I am married I am learning that I don't have to do everything all the time. I realize that we are a team and I know that together we can accomplish anything. That's the beauty of it all. Knowing you have someone by your side through all that life brings your way. I am so appreciative of what we have created together even though he irritates me at times. I love him anyway. LOL!!! SO to my husband I say I LOVE YOU and Happy 1st month Anniversary BB! Here is to a lifetime of many more!

Wedding albums

We opted to not to get the wedding album from the PRO-photog because it was $500 and that was expense that was TOO much for my pocketbook. So I started organizing all our pics PRO and from family and friends, now I see why albums are so EXPENSIVE they are VERY time consuming. I haven't decided if I want to use MYPUBLISHER again or MPIX. MyPulisher was a good special running that ends today. Buy1 get1 but Mpix was better quality albums from what I have read online. I want to give the parents albums for Xmas presents. But I need something to show family for the holidays. I just didn't want to use a regular photo album but I may have to. I am pretty sure that we will order a MPIX album for us and give the parents the mypublisher albums. We are also having another photosession with the photog like a post-wedding session/ trash the dress/suit session. I wanted some artistic shots and wanted to include them in the album but we taking them at the end of the month. SO that would mean I would have to wait on them before I can finish the parents albums. We are currently working on the THANK-YOUs I am trying to get the design completed so that we can get them out by the holidays.

Recaps: Reception

I really didn't relieve how long it takes to do recaps. The reception was so much FUN! We had a blast. When we walked in and I saw how beautiful everything came out I was one proud mommy. I am in the wedding industry so I have seen lots and lots of receptions. I have been the decor designer for many brides but when its all yours it just something different about it. When you know how much money and time was spent to see your vision come to reality it's a wonderful feeling. I will never forget that moment. I will never forget walking into that room with my HUSBAND and seeing everything that I have worked on for the past 18-19 months. I was ESTATIC, ELATED, AND GRATEFUL. DH and I are both still in college and our parents did what they could to help us but WE worked together as a couple to create our day and just to see the wedding coming together the way it did lets me know that together we can do ANYTHING! I and so BLESSED to have a partner to share my failures and successes with. BTW: thanks to all of you who read this and who post comments. I appreciate all the love and support. Now back to our regularly scheduled program.

RECAP: Ceremony

I am in the middle of a very tough week with school. But I had to blog b/c its a stress reliever and we are quickly approaching out 1 month anniversary and I haven't really blogged about the wedding. I just post pics when I can. So these are a few pics from the ceremony. Here is the thing. I wanted it to have ambience but in reality it was DARK but I liked it. I was shocked how good the photog pics came out considering how dark it was. ENJOY!!!

Here is a shot of the ceremony before guest arrived! I LOVE this shot!!!
Some guests seated. People were late and my DOC made them stand at the back!!!!!
Me and my pops this is my walk from Ms to MRS!! As I was walking I was listening to the song and I remember telling my Dad we are walking too fast. LOL!! I just wanted to savor that moment. I was so EXCITED. I remember waiting in the boardroom with my father before the ceremony. I was starting to get antsy and he was like calm down they are coming in a minute. I was thinking that the ceremony was starting late.
I LOVE this shot. This is DH expression as I was walking down the aisle.
